Food Allergy-friendly Cooking & Baking Lessons

Feeding a family is no small undertaking, especially when you can't cook with milk, eggs, nuts, soy, or wheat. But it can be done and be delicious, too!

In the safety and convenience of your own kitchen, learn hands-on the hows and whys of baking, or focus on expanding your repertoire of family-friendly meals.

We'll prepare several recipes of your choosing, tailored to your specific dietary needs. Learn how key ingredients--such as butter, flour, and eggs--function in your favorite cookies, cakes, and breads and how to make safe subsitutions. Or master techniques for making lasagna, meatballs, and pizza so good you'll never miss the cheese, eggs, and wheat.

Armed with a repertoire of basic, reliable recipes, strategies for making substitutions, and the confidence to adapt your own family's favorite recipes, you'll be cooking up an allergy-free storm in no time!

In this hands-on class you'll learn how to bake double-crust, lattice, and crumb-topped fruit pies from scratch. Each student will take home their own fully assembled pie, ready to bake or freeze for a special occasion.

Kids and parents will work together to make dough, simmer sauce, and choose toppings in this hands-on class. Discover the secrets to a crispy crust and spectacular marinara, and have some fun in the kitchen with your family.

Vegetarian Holiday Dishes

  • Bring vegetables to the center of the plate with a hearty holiday menu inspired by seasonal produce. In this hands-on class we'll prepare Easy Crostini Three Ways, Roasted Winter Squash Soup, Farro Dressing with Oranges and Pine Nuts, and a Swiss Chard and Gruyere Tart in a Whole Wheat Pastry Crust. We'll talk about which dishes can be cooked in advance–and how to reheat them–so you won't have to spend your holiday in the kitchen.
